Tell us a bit about yourself.

Completed my undergrad at UC Berkeley, with majors in BioEngineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS for those who are attune with the memes).

Why did you choose BIG?

Amazing faculty that really care about their students. Boston is such a great city to be in not only for the tech but also the unique modern but historical vibe. I would definitely recommend exploring the city if you are debating BIG versus another program to get a feel for the city and see if for yourself!

What advice would you give to college students who are interested in a PhD in genomics/bioinformatics?

Research, research, and then some more research. You really learn by doing and starting research early and prioritizing it will help in discovering where your interests lie and whether you can see yourself doing a PhD. Also for those who have just started research or don't have a heavy CS/bio background but are interested in this research, don't be intimidated! People come to this field from a wide variety of angles. All you need to start out is an interest, open mind, and good work ethic, the rest will follow!
