Tell us a bit about yourself.

I grew up in Ottawa, Canada but have called Toronto my home for the past few years. I studied at the University of Toronto, completing my undergraduate degree in biological physics and my Master's degree in computational biology. My research interests span epigenomics, 3D chromatin architecture, and translational science.

What advice would you give to college students who are interested in a PhD in genomics/bioinformatics?

I'd recommend taking advantage of research opportunities, attending seminars, and talking to a wide range of people at all stages of their careers in bioinformatics. There are so many different paths you can take into this field, and I've found it highly rewarding to learn from incredible people bringing diverse perspectives! I'd also recommend prioritizing your wellbeing by balancing school with outside interests. For me, that meant weekly choir rehearsals. I found this to be a big stabilizing factor during my studies.
